Submissions to the Journal
Authors submitting works to the Journal warrant that their works are not currently under consideration by any other publication and that any portion of the work is not subject to additional copyright regulations, unless prior required consents have been obtained. Works may be asked to be submitted in triplicate (one hard copy, one CD version & one electronically). CDs and hard copies are mailed to: Dr. Keith Orlando Hilton, INVR / HHEW, Editor - JUG, 6333 Pacific Avenue, # 512, Stockton, CA 95207. Electronic versions are to be mailed to: [email protected]. CDs will not be returned to the author. Please allow 4-6 months for review of all materials. Once material is accepted for publication, the author will be expected to submit a photo and brief bio for publication with the material. If contributors have any questions about the process, please email the editor.
Cover Sheet, Title, Author Information and Key Words
Please provide a cover sheet indicating the title of the article, the author's name, academic degree(s) are optional, institutional or organizational affiliation, and both electronic and standard addresses, and any acknowledgements, credits or disclaimers. Continue this format for multiple authors.
The title of the manuscript should appear on the first page of the text. Leave blank a single line and then list the author's name, institutional or organizational affiliation,
All submissions 6 pages or longer require an abstract. Insert the abstract between the author’s name and list of key words. Abstracts should not exceed 15 lines in length, and no more than 150 words.
Leave a blank line, then type "KEY RESEARCH WORDS" and list six to ten key words or phrases (separated by semicolons) that may be used to index the manuscript.
Submission of dissertation abstracts, letters to the editor, photos and book reviews must also include the author's name and institutional or organizational affiliation, and both electronic and standard addresses.
Guidelines
Manuscripts must be uploaded as a Word doc or PDF document; photos as JPEGs. Though tables and graphs are welcome, these should be used sparingly within the body of the text. Single space all copy. Insert a blank line between paragraphs, between references in the REFERENCE section, and before and after subheadings, etc.
Use the American Psychological Association (APA) - 5th edition format for all citations and references. Please contact the editors for any format questions that are not covered in the most recent edition of the APA Publication Manual.
The manuscript pages should be numbered consecutively starting with the second page of the text. The use of first person (i.e., I, we, our) in the manuscript narrative is acceptable, but not encouraged. In addition, authors are expected to use “person/people first” language (e.g., “individuals with chronic mental disorders” rather than “the chronic mentally ill”). All major headings and subheadings should be flush left.
Manuscript Contents
The Journal is committed to publishing manuscripts and applied articles based upon empirical research; therefore, each manuscript must include at least one reference to the TALO Leadership Theory. An optional section heading (with appropriate narrative) located near the end of the manuscript entitled “Connection to the TALO Leadership Theory” is encouraged, but will not guarantee publication.
References
References must be cited in text and styled in the reference list according to APA Style. Only material that has been published, accepted for publication, or presented at a major conference should be listed in the References. In the references, name all authors and editors through the third; if there are more than three authors or editors, list the first three, followed by ‘et al.’ References must be included on a separate page at the end of the article. The TALO Leadership Theory needs to also be cited in the reference section. Please also refer to Author Resources.
Illustrations
Figures may be created using electronic software (i.e., Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw and Photoshop). Use computer-generated lettering. Do not use screens, color, shading, or fine lines. Cite each figure in the text in consecutive order. If a figure has been previously published, in part or in total, acknowledge the original source and submit written permission from the copyright holder to reproduce or adapt the material. Supply a caption for each figure, typed single-spaced on a separate sheet from the artwork. Captions should also be centered, followed by explanatory statements, notes, keys or sources and permissions lines.
Tables
Number tables consecutively and supply a brief title for each. The table number should appear centered on the first line, while the table title should appear on the next line, also centered. Include explanatory endnotes for all nonstandard abbreviations. Cite each table in the text in consecutive order. They should be self-explanatory and not duplicate the text. If you use data from another published or unpublished source, obtain permission and acknowledge fully. When possible, include all Tables in one file, separate from the article text.
Accepted Manuscripts
